NLS Quarterly Patron Corner

 On Monday, June 10, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. eastern time, the NLS Patron Engagement Section will host the quarterly Patron Corner. The topic for this program is NLS Summer Reading: Another Bridge for Literacy for Children Who Are Blind or Low Vision. The 90-minute session will feature a national panel of experts on literacy in the blind and low-vision community. Panelists will discuss the state of literacy among low-vision children and adults and describe approaches for improving literacy outcomes.

This year young artists submitted tactile pieces using ceramic, felt, cotton, paper, wood, metal, and more. It was difficult to choose the winners but here they are!

Art Gallery Competition - Let's Celebrate Art

During April and May each year, South Carolina Talking Book Services offers a fine arts creative outlet for blind and visually impaired students in our state.

It is now time to enter the 2024 SCSL Talking Book Services art competition.  Any visually impaired/blind child or young adult still in school may enter.  Artwork can be in any medium, but must be tactile.

There are three age categories:  ages 6 to 10, ages 11 to 15, and ages 16 and up.  Only one entry per student is allowed.
